Description: Next Thursday February 4th, 2010, will be Suffolk County’s annual Veterans Appreciation Night to honor our veterans and service members for their service during the past year. We will also be honoring our newest Gold Star Families with the Suffolk County Medal for Distinguished Military Service.... County Executive Levy and Amber Kash (USMC) will also be returning the belongings of a US soldier that had been buried in the ground in France since his service there in 1945. The property, his dog tags, St. Christopher medal and other items were recently unearthed by a farmer working in his fields in the town of Metz. The property found its way to the US Embassy in Paris and then back here to Suffolk County. The details will be shared in full at the ceremony, trust me, it is a great story. ... Please help to spread the word... Thursday Feb. 4th, 2010 5:20 PM .. H. Lee Dennison Bldg, Hauppauge.. 100 Veterans Memorial Hwy. Hauppauge, NY 11788.. We will stage in the parking lot (please keep an eye out for my white avalanche, I will have a flag on top so that we will all be able to find each other at the staging area.. We will be standing an honor guard line from 5:30 till the beginning of the ceremony at the outside entrance, we will then proceed inside for the ceremony. It is believed that they will also be recognizing the Patriot Guard Riders this evening, so it would be wonderful to have a decent attendance turn-out... Even if you cant make the staging time, please feel free to show up when you can...
